New Release - Nightbloom by Juliette Cross

NIGHTBLOOM  Book 3 of The Nightwing Series
by Juliette Cross

I loved this Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance. *5 stars* - Miss Cross has a way with her characters, a way of immersing her reader into the sexy world of the Morgans. I highly recommend this read. The last book in The Nightwing series, but each book you can read on its own. But warning you, you'll want to read the entire series!!

Book Description

The love between a human and a Morgon, the dragon-hybrid race, tempts fate once more…

All her life, Ella Barrow has allowed others to make her decisions. Forced to stifle her artistic talents and stay in a loveless relationship with Clayton Kerrington, the man her mother believes to be her perfect match, Ella’s life may be safe—but it’s not her own. Paxon Nightwing, on the other hand, is anything but the safe choice.

A charming and alluring Morgon, Paxon sees Ella for the woman she truly is. His bold confidence and protective nature ignites a passion she’s never felt before. But a dark family tragedy forces their secrecy—until Clayton makes it impossible to hide their clandestine affair. Will Ella be strong enough to fight for herself at last?

Or will she succumb once more and risk losing the only man she’s ever loved?

Excerpt

I blotted my Petal Pink lips on a piece of memo paper and capped the lipstick.

“Dangit!”

Trying to retrieve the tube with the tip of my open-toe heel, I only succeeded in pushing the lipstick farther away. “Ugh.”

Unable to bend that far in my pencil skirt, I hiked the hem up to my thighs and crawled on all fours, shimmying my behind, then stretching my arm till my fingers finally gripped my favorite lipstick.

That’s when I heard a low, masculine whistle from someone standing behind me.

Scooting back, I shot off the floor and slid my hemline back to my knee, all under the steady gaze of Paxon Nightwing, silhouetted by the sunlight that filtered into the foyer of Linden and Burke.

Towering above me with jet-black hair and matching sharp-edged wings, wearing a charcoal button-down, black slacks, and a devilish smile, his voice crooned when he spoke. “Now that’s what I call a warm welcome.”

“I, um, well, I…”

He extended a bronzed hand. I reached out with my right, nearly dropping the lipstick again. I shifted it to my left hand. “I like pink.”

I like pink? I like pink! For God’s sake, Ella. How old was I? Five?

His extended hand engulfed mine, then he drew our bodies closer. Grinning wide and stroking his thumb across my knuckles, his melodious voice sounded sultry and sinful.

“So do I.”

I blinked stupidly till my brain started functioning again. He didn’t say a word, mesmerizing me with ridiculously deep brown eyes.

“I’m, uh, Ella Barrow.”

“Paxon Nightwing. Pleasure to meet you. But I think we’ve met before.”

I tugged on my hand. He didn’t let go, tightening his hold.

“Uh, well, I’m friends with Sorcha and Jessen.”

“Yes.”

I knew this guy was a player, the kind to make a girl swoon with a glance and charm the pants right off her. Literally. Jessen had even kissed him in a club once. And while his carousing behavior should make me want to run away, I couldn’t forget that Jessen had said on a scale of one to ten, his kiss was a ninety-nine.

He still held my hand, angling his body closer. “I’ve also seen you at the Vaengar games. With Kerrington.”

“Yeah. We’re, um, dating.”

“That’s a shame.”

I tugged again.

He released me. “I have an appointment with Sorcha Nightwing.”

“Yes. I know.”

Pulling myself together, I pressed the comm device on my desk and cleared my throat. “Mr. Nightwing is here.”

“Thanks, Ella. Show him to my office, please.”

Rounding behind the desk, I gestured down the hall. “This way.”

“After you.” A sly grin.

I tilted up my chin, pretending I wasn’t afraid of him, then led him toward Sorcha’s office. I was good at pretending.

As soon as I stepped in front of him, a primal shiver vibrated through my bones.
His eyes were on me. I felt his gaze, as if his gaze were a caress, brushing up my legs, curving over my behind, rounding my hips to the dip of my waist and finally settling on the blond waves that fell past my shoulders. By the time we reached the door to the office, my heartbeat hammered in my throat.

Gesturing for him to enter, I kept my eyes on the floor, trying desperately to regain control. He stopped in front of me, but I held my gaze until I realized I was fixated on his crotch. I jerked my head up. Amusement flickered across chiseled features. He was about to say something, but I didn’t give him the chance. I marched back up the hall to the receptionist area.

NEW RELEASE - Forward Pass

Forward Pass by Desiree Holt

Forward Pass (Book One: Game On)
It’s never too early or late to play the game.

Shay Beckham grew up idolizing her brother’s best friend, star quarterback Joe Reilly. There was no one in their Texas town who had the moves to match Joe on or off the field. Years later, he’s still a player who has what it takes to drive any hot-blooded woman wild. But Shay isn’t a kid with a bad case of hero-worship anymore. She’s grown-up and independent, with her feet on the ground and a serious head on her shoulders. If she could just say the same for Joe.
It’s been fifteen years, but Joe Reilly hasn’t forgotten the skinny little kid who used to follow him around like a shadow. What he can’t get over is that the skinny shadow has grown into one hell of an incredible woman. One any man in his right mind would kill to get his hands on. And one who seems to be completely immune to him. He knows he and Shay could have something special together. If he could only convince her he’s about more than just the game.

Excerpt:
The taxi moved forward with a jerk and Shay’s eyes popped open. She leaned forward and tapped the driver on the shoulder.
“Did they clear away the wreck? We’re finally moving, right?”
“Yes, miss.” He shrugged. “But slowly.”
She rotated her neck, trying to work out some of the kinks. She’d been sitting in uncomfortable seats since she got in the shuttle to the airport and every muscle in her body ached. The hot shower was looking better and better. Or maybe she’d fire up the hot tub Hank had installed on the rear deck.
Hopefully, with all this delay caused by the wreck, by the time she got to the house Laura would be packed and gone. They pulled off the interstate and she mentally crossed her fingers and silently chanted, Let her be gone. But bad luck was still with her. When they turned onto her street and she spotted the car parked in the driveway, she swore under her breath. Laura Whoever was still here. Well, she’d better be getting ready to leave. Shay was in no mood to put up with bullshit. Sighing, she hauled her suitcase into the house, closed the door, and headed through the living room to her bedroom.
And stopped.
A hissing sound came from the shower in the bathroom connected to her bedroom and the guest room. Damn it! The least Hank could do was tell his little friends to use the master bath and leave hers alone. He had, after all, promised her that she’d have complete privacy.
“I travel a lot,” he’d told her. Then grinned. “And I’ll keep the sleepovers to those times you’re in New York.”
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So how come this female hadn’t gotten the message she was supposed to be gone?
Crap! The door wasn’t even closed. Clouds of steam billowed in the bathroom and obscured the figure in the frosted-glass shower enclosure. Okay, enough was enough.
Shay stepped into the bathroom and banged her hand on the glass.
“This is my bathroom,” she ground out. “I’ve had a tough day and you don’t want to mess with me. Next time use Hank’s bathroom. This one is off-limits. Get your ass out of here in five seconds, or I won’t be responsible for my actions.”
She turned away, not the least bit interested in a glimpse of Laura Whoever’s nudity. She just wanted her out of the house.
The water stopped and the door slid open.
“Okay. I don’t want to cause you any more stress. But Hank said I should use this one.”
The deep voice shocked her and she turned around before she even thought about it. And nearly swallowed her tongue. A very wet, very naked Joe Reilly stood in her shower stall, grinning at her.
Just when she’d finally made up her mind to stop thinking about him and obsessing over him.
At that exact moment her cell phone chimed. A message from Hank.
“BTW, Joe’s in town, Take good care of him.”

Sundae with the Nut Erin Fanning

May 24th

Welcome to another saucy episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Erin Fanning!

1.Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather?
As an avid skier, my favorite knickers are of the long variety and made from fast-drying Merino wool.

2.Do you believe in love at first sight?
No, absolutely not, but I do believe in love at first joke—the fastest way to someone’s heart is to make them laugh.

3.I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love?
I met my husband while living in Seattle during the mid-1990s, so it would have to be Grunge bands like Nirvana or Pearl Jam.

4.Most romantic or sexiest destination out there.
Camping on Round Island with views of Mackinac Island.
And last but now least.

5. Favorite ice cream flavor.
Dark chocolate fudge – you can never get enough chocolate

* * * *

It's very much my pleasure to have Miss Erin on the Nuts today. SWN hosted her cover reveal a few months back and been looking forward to her return ever since!
Her answer to #2 is the best yet. Not because I'm in that "No love at first sight" camp, but because laughter is truly the bonder of souls. And with the crazy life out there, we need it more and more as we grow older together. To not take everything so seriously. To joke away tension and misery. To see that lighter side to things.
I can attest to the views on Mackinac Island for #4 being a Michigan gal myself and yes, you can never NEVER have enough chocolate.

Do take a peeksie at Miss Erin Fanning's newest release BLOOD STITCHES. The book trailer is really good, and the book looks fabulous!

Sundae With Nuts - April Vine

May 10th, 2015

Welcome to another saucy episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) April Vine!

Sundae with the Nut April Vine

1.Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather?
Depends on my mood and sometimes I may be in the mood for nothing at all ;)

2.Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both?
Luke Evans…sigh

3.What language, when heard spoken, makes you frisky? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda)
I don’t care what language it is as long as it sounds a deep, rough and loads sexy!

4.What vehicle, abode, beach, construction site or other locale did you lose your virginity.
I’ve come to respect the convenience of a bed :-)

5.Do you believe in love at first sight?
Absolutely!

6.If you could play a board game during sex, what would it be?
Monopoly?

7.Any special “toys” you’d like to give mention to for their outstanding achievements?
Umm…all of them ;)

8.I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love?
Boyz 11 Men - I’ll make love to you :-)

9.Most romantic or sexiest destination out there.
My mind?

And last but now least.

10. Favorite ice cream flavor.
Kink for everything else, but I take my ice cream vanilla thank you very much :-)

* * * *

Welcome, Miss Vine! A pleasure that you stepped up to be a Nut. We don't have enough of them these days. We must recruit those Nuts out there! Don't be shy. I'm not asking to spill all your secrets. What fun would be in that?

I laughed out loud at Miss April's choice of ice cream. We need a balance everywhere in our life, don't we?
And you know what? Luke Evans is now my favorite ATM. There is so much yumminess out there, that might change with the wind. But right now, he is more than divine enough for me. And that bloody accent. Hoowee! I'm married to a man with an accent and how come I don't get off the same way? Don't worry, sweetie, you're still sexy. But we all like to mix it up after awhile.
I'd love to know the specifics on the Monopoly. Collecting rent? Passing Go? Whose the banker? :-)

Sundae With Nuts - Vina Arno

April 12th, 2015

Welcome to another saucy episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Vina Arno!

Sundae with the Nut Vina Arno

1: What language, when heard spoken, makes you frisky? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda)
Not language, but British accent, combined with good looks. Think Tom Hardy and Christian Bale.

2. Do you believe in love at first sight?
Absolutely. It’s the only way I have fallen in love.

3. Most romantic or sexiest destination out there.
For me and my husband, nothing beats Hawaii, especially Maui, Big Island, and Kauai.

4.: If you become a best-selling author and sell your movie rights, what will be the first thing you do when you hear? Other than contact Cd Brennan and offer to share with her, of course.
Definitely contact Cd Brennan and offer her free trip for two to the sexiest destination she wants to visit. And then, I will send money to a literary magazine or a small press that will collaborate with me in publishing a collection of stories by first-time writers, preferably women.  That first short story published makes all the difference to a novice writer. At least, that was my experience. It was a validation and it gave me permission to continue writing.

And last but not least.

5. Favorite ice cream flavor.
Pistachio or anything with nuts—how fitting since I’m now officially a Nut for answering these questions.

* * * *
Miss Vina, it's a pleasure to have you on the Nuts! I can imagine with your debut, IN HIS CORNER, it's been quite a ride for you these days. As for your answers...
#1 has always been a hit with the Nuts. Nothing like a sexy, posh British accent. Top three with Scottish and Irish. We do love our Celts over here, too! And another believer in love at first sight. La sigh. I'm still on the fence with this one. I've been immediately attracted to someone, but love? That seems a bigger, more time-encompassing commitment to me. But then I'm in the minority! I've been meaning to take the stats and post it. Believers versus not - one day I will!
And you are lovely to offer me and hubby a break away if you make it big. We could use it! Our life is our young boys at the moment and we don't do enough for ourselves. Also, your support in other writers is honorable. I agree totally. That first publication is mighty - might not be the Nobel Prize Winner but it keeps you writing and practicing the craft until one day, you may release that bestseller!

In His Corner by Vina Arno, published by Lyrical Press/Kensington Publishing, will be released on April 14!! I loved this sports romance of a hero/heroine from different sides of the track and the compromise and love they find in the middle.

On sale now!

To get to know Vina, visit her at Web site: www.cindyfazzi.com

Also, a great article she wrote about starting out as a writer, making that leap in careers. Having faith in oneself!

Excerpt

Malin squinted her eyes at him. “I beg your pardon?”
Gunnar had seen that look on his sister’s face enough times to know he’d said the wrong thing. But the way the society bitch had treated the shopkeeper rankled him. “What the hell is her problem? Who does the old broad think she is?”
“Gunnar, Mrs. Aubrey-Smith is the customer. That means she is always right. She knows it and doesn’t hold back making sure I know, too. I’m used to her ways.” Malin crossed her arms and rested her hip against the counter.
Aubrey-Smith? He knew that name. He’d had an interest in Ashleigh, the old bat’s daughter. Until he’d learned she was engaged. Ashleigh’s promise to another man apparently wasn’t enough to keep her from flirting with every other male in sight. Thankfully, he’d dodged that bullet. He shook his head, then turned his attention back to Malin.
He liked the way Malin looked at him. Even when she was angry. Her ice blue, almond-shaped eyes, fringed with thick black eyelashes, were direct and curious, as if she’d found a new specimen of flower that required closer examination. As he stared at her, she reached up and tucked her chin-length white-blond hair behind her ear. How the hell had he not realized before how pretty she was?
Malin possessed the peaches-and-cream complexion many of his female relatives shared. Her skin was flawless except for the angry red scratch just below the apple of her cheek. He’d be willing to bet if he touched her face, he’d feel satin. He tucked his hand into his pocket, a paltry effort to curb the urge. Touching someone the way he wanted to touch her went beyond being just friends. And he’d like this woman as a friend. For now. It was entirely possible that sentiment would evolve if his body’s reaction could be trusted.
Gunnar shifted his weight onto one leg, bumping his knee against the wooden panel of the cash wrap. “Being the customer is no excuse for bad manners. And she could win a gold medal in the Bad Manners Olympics. That witch owes you an apology.”
Malin’s fast grin dazzled him. “Can I tell you something? She was on her best behavior today, but you should have kept your mouth shut. I had her eating out of my hand until you butted in.”
“I suppose if your hand was her lunch maybe. It didn’t look like it was under control to me. I was trying to help.”
“You failed miserably, buttercup. But, no harm, no foul. I got what I wanted in the end. I proposed the alternative bouquet to the bride months ago, and she loved it. But Mama vetoed it because it wasn’t her original idea.”
Buttercup? Yeah, well, two could play that game. “I thought mentioning Princess Di’s wedding shoes was a stroke of genius, Daisy Mae.”
She tipped her head back and laughed. A shot of lust speared lodged just south of his belt buckle. He shifted to ease the sudden constriction in his trousers.
“I have moments of brilliance, and the shoes were just one of them.” She fiddled with the strings of her apron, but her eyes remained on his face. “What’s up? How can I help you today?”
Damn, talk about a loaded question. For the life of him, he could only think of one way she could help him. He gave a mental groan and focused. “Um…I need a dozen roses. Do you have any in orange?”

About the Author

Gemma's favorite desk accessories for many years were a circular wooden token, better known as a 'round tuit,' and a slip of paper from a fortune cookie proclaiming her a lover of words; some day she'd write a book. All it took was a transfer to the United Kingdom, the lovely English springtime, and a huge dose of homesickness to write her first novel. Once it was completed and sent off with a kiss, even the rejections addressed to 'Dear Author' were gratifying.
After returning to America, she spent a number of years as a copywriter, dedicating her skills to making insurance and the agents who sell them sound sexy. Eventually, her full-time job as a writer interfered with her desire to be a writer full-time and she left the world of financial products behind to pursue a vocation as a romance author.

Sundae With Nuts - Kristina Matthews

March 8th, 2015

Welcome to another saucy episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Kristina Matthews!

Sundae with the Nut Kristina Matthews

1. Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather?
Cotton. I go for comfort over style.

2. Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both?
Kevin Costner has long been my back up plan. But unfortunately for Kevin, my first choice has stuck around since he took me to see Field of Dreams when it first came out.

3. What language, when heard spoken, makes you frisky? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda)
A lot of baseball players come from Latin America, so there is a lot of Spanish spoken in the dugouts. I only speak enough to order in a Mexican restaurant. Uno mas cerveza por favor.

4. Do you believe in love at first sight?
I still remember meeting my husband for the first time. Our eyes met, and there was an instant connection. He said he wanted to be “Just friends.” We’re still best friends, lovers, partners, and teammates after 25+ years.

5. If you could play a board game during sex, what would it be?
Definitely NOT Pictionary. We almost broke up over a game in college. Probably a word game like Scrabble or Balderdash. Although Cards Against Humanity is pretty funny.

6. I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love?
Our song was Randy Travis’ Forever and Ever, Amen. But we’ve started every road trip with Jimmy Buffet’s Cheeseburger In Paradise. We’ve been on a lot of road trips.

7. Most romantic or sexiest destination out there.
We’re road trippers. My husband loves the desert. I grew up in the mountains. Our first trip together was a three-day rafting trip without a tent, and of course it rained the whole time. We’ve camped on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon where the only sign of civilization was the Giants game on the radio. We’ve rented a beach house with the whole family (thank goodness for large closets), celebrated my husband’s 40th Birthday in Cabo with his high school friends,  we’ve split far too many Anchor Steams at Lefty O’Doul’s bar in San Francisco after a Giants game, and we’ve even spent ten days in a motor home travelling through Alaska with his parents, our 15 month old son, and my brother-in-law and his wife. All of these trips were romantic in different ways. Even the Sleepy Time Inn in Montana where the sheets were practically see-through and I slept in pajamas on my honeymoon was a great memory.

8. I wanted to be a helicopter pilot and a cowgirl when I grew up (still do). What did you want to grow up to be when you were a little girl?
A baseball player, of course. I still have my “School Days” scrapbook. When I was in second grade, there were two lists of occupations. One for boys and one for girls. I checked off baseball player from the boys list, but circled the word “Girls” and drew an arrow to what I wanted to be when I grew up. I was the girl playing kickball in patent leather Mary Janes, with my hair tucked under a ball cap who would kick any boy in the shins if he tried to harass me.
And last but now least.

9.Favorite ice cream flavor.
Mexican Chocolate. Alternately, Salted Caramel.

* * * *
Such a huge pleasure to have a fellow Sassy as a Nut this week. It's been much too long!! Miss Kristina is a fellow sports romance writer, too, and I can totally appreciate her own passion for a sport. My love - rugby. Hers? Baseball. I personally don't watch much of it, but I'd go see a live game in a minute. Nothing like hanging out in a stadium to watch any live sport - the buzz, the hotdogs and beer, the music, the people. Fabulous.

My favorite this week is Miss K's answer to #8. I got this great visual of her in a pair of dusty black Mary Janes, running the bases, pumping those arms, proving to the boys there isn't much a girl can't do. Love it.

I see so much romance in the lives of my Nuts, whether they always see it or not. Here, her romance and relationship with her husband shines through her words, and I think that is one of the most romanctic love stories ever written. No matter what we are trying to accomplish on the page. You are a very lucky girl, Miss Kristina!

MAKING A COMEBACK is Book 3 from Kristina's More Than A Game series. The cover is just hot off the press, and the book is now up for pre-order!

Or do check out her author page with Kensington for the other books in the series that are out now!

COVER REVEAL - The Griffin's Secret by Cate Masters

\

The Griffin’s Secret
by Cate Masters

In this contemporary re-telling of Grimm’s classic fairy tale The Griffin, two people must risk everything to free themselves from the invisible prisons that keep them from love…

Jackson Grant had it all—the girl he loved, his Harley, and his guitar. Until a tragic accident stole it all away. Now, more than scars and a tattoo remain. Jackson has a secret. Cursed by his dead girlfriend’s mother, he can never fall in love again or his beloved will die. With his heart on lockdown, he keeps to himself—until a roadie gig with Malcontent, the world’s most popular band, entwines his fate with sweet, wounded Layla’s…

Music is what Layla lives for. She has no choice. She’s bound by magic to serve Malcontent, cursed to propel them to stardom with her musical powers. Then Jackson appears and gives her hope that he’s the hero who will save her. A reluctant hero, yet one she can’t resist. But freedom will come at price—and who will pay…?

Excerpt

The faint scent of an exotic flower on an ocean breeze hit him the second the girl walked in. Every part of his body stood at attention, taking in the way she moved. The curve of her slender hips. Those long legs…they’d wrap around the back seat of his Harley perfectly. Wrap around him perfectly, too.
A flip of her onyx-silk hair sent it behind her shoulder as she sat opposite. “Who are you?”
Good question. He’d been seeking the same answer for too long. “Jackson Grant.”
Her eyes darkened, deep brown to charcoal diamonds. “Why are you here?”
“For the roadie job.” Was she the first gatekeeper? A gate she kept locked, he’d bet. Or maybe she was another test. Kev had warned him there’d be tricky questions and to answer straight. Something told him she asked out of curiosity.
“You think you’re up for such a demanding job?”
Again, the impression hit him she was making these questions up as she went along, ad-libbing off his replies.
He’d play. “I’m strong. Dependable. I follow orders, keep my head down, and stay out of trouble.” And he liked his privacy.
Her features smoothed, hard as porcelain. “Do you.” Not a question.
He’d answer anyway. “Yes.”
Did disappointment curl her lip? Or boredom? Why did he care? If he could, he’d blast out of there before his own curiosity got the better of him. Already, she’d gotten under his skin. Crazy how the tat no longer singed him, but now twisted like a trapped animal.
With a plastic smile, she batted her eyes, and the false flirtation didn’t suit her. “So. You’re a yes-man.”
The way she said it, he’d be no different than any other roadie serving the great rock star, Malcolm Fetterman. Fine by Jackson. The less he stood out, the better. Except for her. He hated to think of her glossing over his presence, but that would be better, too.
He drummed his fingers on the table. “I need the job.” Where the hell was Malcolm anyway? The longer he stayed with her, the more he wanted to. Definitely couldn’t afford that kind of trouble. He glanced at the open door, hoping he wouldn’t have to go through the same interrogation again.
She tapped the table. “You’d have to travel constantly.”
“Perfect.” No different than his usual way of life. Except this time, his paycheck would remain steady.
“You wouldn’t miss your family?” She dipped her head. “Your girlfriend?”
He curled his lip this time. No one’s business but his. He shifted in his seat. “They’re better off.”
Her brows knit, and then her expression became unreadable as the Sphinx. “The hours are long, and the equipment’s heavy. Everything has to be exactly as Mal orders.”
Did he imagine it, or had she winced at her own words?
He shrugged. “It’s his show.” Someday, Jackson would have his own roadies. And would treat them much better than Malcolm Fetterman did, if the stories proved true.
Her steely focus cut into him. “Mal doesn’t hire musicians except for those in the band. And there aren’t any openings in Malcontent.”
He didn’t allow himself to blink. “No problem.”
“But you play, don’t you?” Her gaze dropped to his callused fingertips drumming the tabletop.
He drew his hand down. “No.” A necessary lie. She might suspect, but couldn’t possibly know the truth. Almost like leaving one of his limbs behind, he’d locked his Fender in storage in New Jersey with his paltry possessions for six months. By then, he’d know whether this gig worked out.

COVER REVEAL - BLOOD STITCHES

Blood Stitches by Erin Fanning

Coming May 12, 2015 from Lyrical Press

Love and danger intertwine…

Blurb:

It’s called El Toque de la Luna—The Touch of the Moon. At least that’s how nineteen-year-old Gabby’s older sister, Esperanza, refers to the magical powers she inherited from their Mayan ancestors. Esperanza says women with El Toque weave magic into their knitting, creating tapestries capable of saving—or devastating—the world. Gabby thinks Esperanza is more like touched in the head—until a man dressed like a candy corn arrives at their Seattle home on Halloween. But “Mr. C” is far from sweet…

Soon, Gabby and her almost-more-than-friend, Frank, find themselves spirited away to a demon ball, complete with shape shifters—and on a mission to destroy Esperanza’s tapestries before they cause an apocalyptic disaster… And before it’s too late to confess their true feelings for each other.

Excerpt:

A gust of wind scattered leaves across the University of Seattle campus. My hair tangled over my face. New contacts tortured my eyes, and books weighed down my backpack. It didn’t matter. A tornado could have snatched me up. As long as it carried me home and put an end to the anniversary of the worst day of my life.

“Watch out, Gabby.” My best friend Frank thrust his hands deep into the pockets of his pinstriped suit. “We’re being followed by a giant candy corn.”

“Giant candy corn? Yeah, right.” If I turned around, Frank would laugh and say, “Gotcha”, or some other dorky thing. The mind-numbing boredom of Calculus I, our last class of the day, always set Frank off, making him zanier than usual.

“I mean it. We’ve got a candy corn on our tail.” Frank whistled a Lester Ruben song as he sauntered ahead.

“Okay, okay. Let me see this Halloween wonder.” If I didn’t give in, Frank would never leave me alone. I whirled, ready to hear Frank’s laugh, and almost ran into a man. His face glowed orange, like someone who’d spent too much time in a tanning booth, and he wore a white cap pulled down to his ears. A yellow scarf hid his neck and chin. For once, Frank wasn’t kidding. The man resembled a giant candy corn.

Shredded paper and a postage stamp poked out of his scarf, and a moon decorated an edge of the knitting, like one of my older sister Esperanza’s creations. It didn’t seem possible, but no one else I knew added garbage and a signature moon to their knitting. A wool coat covered the rest of him, except his face and steel-tipped boots.

“Sorry.” I jumped back.

Frank’s chuckles mixed with squirrels chattering in a nearby tree. Drizzle moistened my forehead, and a cold dampness seeped into my bones. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion, like watching Esperanza unravel her knitting one stitch at a time to fix a mistake.

Blurb

When Demons threaten Regency London, only a Lady can stop them.

Lillian Dellacourt is beautiful, refined and absolutely lethal. She’s also the most feared and merciless demon hunter in The Company. She’s come a long way from the penniless seamstress’s daughter sold to the highest bidder, and it wasn’t by trusting a man, let alone an exiled Marquis with more on his mind than slaying the hellspawn . . .
For Dorian Lambert, Marquis de Montalembert, being sent to keep track of Lillian is no mean task. He’s wanted the fiery vixen since he first heard of her five years ago. But wooing the lady while fighting the demon uprising is no easy feat, especially when the lady’s tongue is as sharp as the Japanese sai blades she favors for eviscerating the spawn of hell.
These two will have to learn to trust each other fast, because the demon master is back, and he’s planning to turn Edinburgh into a living hell…
